I'm in charge of the school network for EverFi and a die hard Notre Dame fan.
You hear people in the Valley always say ‘I want my entrepreneurs to be hungry.” I agree with that, but think there’s a difference between being panicked and being hungry. And I think too often founders find themselves with negative net worth, credit card bills, etc and they get freaked out.

It’s not about ideas. It’s about making ideas happen.

Innovation is almost insane by definition: most people view any truly innovative idea as stupid, because if it was a good idea, somebody would have already done it.
– Why We Prefer Founding CEOs // ben’s blogI found myself speaking to an entrepreneur recently about how to develop a two-sided market. I thought I would relay some of our thoughts on the topic.

It’s easy to kick someone when they are having trouble I guess. Ning announced a significant layoff and the critics pounced.
I guess I wasn’t surprised at this point. But the thing that surprised me was the negativity about freemium.

By telling developers to move to XCode tools, Apple is setting the stage to potentially switch architectures.
If this is indeed the case, then iPhone OS 4.0 would bring incredible speed improvements to the iPad

Interesting Read - and very impressed by Bijan’s response. That might be the best sales pitch ever to try and get Bijan on your board as entrepreneur (I hear he has an okay track record as well).
Venture Beat had a great article today about Twitter - and the recent noise they’ve made in a couple of their acquisitions. Any developers who were surprised by the move had to be a little naive in my opinion. Twitter raised a massive round, including from the likes of T.Rowe and they didn’t raise that round just to sit around. Twitter is going to find a way to monetize on their amazing traffic, or they are going to go down trying. They are perfectly positioned to continue to cherry pick the best start ups who leverage their API. Its an amazing opportunity for developers as well - create something cool and you have a very good chance of being tapped on the shoulder a la tweetie.
